Hip-Hop artist Crooked I’s First Solo Release

CANADA (Sasha Stoltz Publicity): WIDEawake-Death Row Entertainment LLC announces Hip-Hop artist Crooked I’s first solo release Hood Star, which is set to hit shelves June 15. The record features 15 unreleased tracks with guest appearances by, Juvenile, Too Short, Sisqo, Danny Boy, Eastwood, Kurupt and Ray J, just to name a few.

When first signed to Death Row, Crooked I appeared on a number of compilations such as Too Gansta For Radio, Dysfunktional Family, Tha Dogg Pound’s 2002, and Tupac’s Nu Mixx Klazzics. He also took time out to work on soundtracks for the movies Ride and Caught Up collaborating with such artists as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Tha Eastsidaz and The Luniz. In 2005, Crooked I created an Internet buzz for himself with “Boom Boom Clap,” with the video receiving almost 500,000 hits on YouTube. In 2007, he took a different approach to the game with the creation of his Hip-Hop weekly Internet series that got him voted the MC with “the best shot of taking over the game” and landed him on the cover of XXL magazine that fall.

Last year, Crooked I, along with MC’s Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Royce Da 5’9″ created the group Slaughterhouse and went out on a successful nationwide “Rock the Bells” tour last summer. Crooked I’s popularity has sustained over the years, with over 2.5 million MySpace views and 21,000 followers on Twitter an over 5,000 friends on Facebook, Crooked I has proved he is here to stay.

The force behind Crooked I’s Hood Star is his mentor, music producer Big Hutch — aka Cold 187um from the multi-platinum group Above The Law. Big Hutch was a producer at Death Row Records in the late 90s, overseeing projects such as 2Pac’s album Until The End Of Time. The multi-talented producer works with independent artists: helping them find their place in today’s Hip- Hop community.

Sean Jones: Studio Bound!

TORONTO (Sasha Stoltz Publicity, April 23-25, 2010): Juno-winning, WIDEawake Entertainment Group recording artist Sean Jones is heading back to the studio to record new material for his upcoming album. Sean describes his new sound as Pop Rock with Soul. Heavy distortion and soaring guitar lines juxtaposed over killer grooves and soulful melodies.

Sean will be collaborating with music producer, Stuart Zender. Zender, a founding member of Jamiroquai, has worked with the likes of Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, Mica Paris and Omar to name a few. A personal highlight for the producer was the opportunity to play and record with the legendary Stevie Wonder.

“It’s About Time” for Danny Boy and Death Row

CANADA (Sasha Stoltz Publicity): WIDEawake Death Row Entertainment LLC has announced that Danny Boy’s It’s About Time is set for release April 20 with tracks produced by DJ Quick and Devante.

A soulful voice, Danny Boy Seward signed to Death Row Records in 1994 with the R&B hit “Come When I Call” from the soundtrack of Murder Was The Case. He sang on several chart-toppers with like “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” from the late 2pac’s All Eyez on Me, as well as “Toss It Up”, “Picture Me Rollin”, and “I Can’t Get Enough” from the Gridlock’d soundtrack.

Most recently, Danny Boy appeared on last year’s Death Row sampler and the Ultimate Collection box set.

WIDEawake Entertainment Week presents Sean Jones at Canadian Music Week

ReelWorld Film Festival 10th Anniversary Press Conference

Mel Gibson returns to the “Edge of Darkness”

Mel Gibson is back on the big screen with his first starring role since 2002 in Edge of Darkness.  The Oscar winner is a cop out for blood to avenge the death of his only daughter.  From the tremendous success of 2004’s The Passion of The Christ to his years of struggle with alcohol, the messy, financial divorce of his 28-year marriage, and the birth of his eighth child, does the 54-year-old Gibson still has what it takes to be a Lethal Weapon at the box office?

So far, the actor seems to be back at the top of his game, as Edge of Darkness is released into theatres right now.

Brad and Angelina, and now John & Elizabeth?

Though recently separated, John and Elizabeth Edwards continues to pique the interest of the media and the public, as Elizabeth is on the cover on the latest issue of People. Elizabeth, who is currently battling cancer, where she speaks about her “breaking point”, while John finally admitted that he is the biological father of former mistress Rielle Hunter’s 2-year-old daughter. His former aide, Andrew Young, recently spoke to ABC that includes his 20/20 interview on Friday, in which he claims that Edwards tried to cover up his affair as well as tried to alter the DNA results, as he explains it all in his new book The Politician.

Young also claims that once Elizabeth knew the truth, she attempted suicide, but her spokesperson said that these statements are false allegations. He told 20/20 of a possible sex tape with John and Hunter, who recently filed a restraining order against Young and sought to have the tape returned, stating that the nature of the tape is private between two consenting adults.

FOX’s “Glee” Club teacher goes solo this fall

Matthew Morrison will be singing out of the classroom, as the 31-year-old Glee star has just signed a deal with Mercury Records.  Glee, which was given a early pick-up for a second season, was the 2010 People’s Choice Awards for Favorite New TV Comedy. 

The breakout FOX hit is nominated for four Golden Globe Awards — including Best Actor in a Television Comedy for Morrison, who also appeared in the Broadway version of Footloose and was nominated for a Tony for The Light in the Plaza.

Morrison’s first album is set to be release around the same time Glee starts season two this fall.

Neither FOX nor ABC has “Forgotten” Kim Bauer

While onscreen father Kiefer Sutherland is saving the world once more on 24, Elisha Cuhbert will be in the Windy City for a recurring role on ABC’s The Forgotten.  The actrees will portray an attorney skeptical of ex-cop Alex Donovan (Christian Slater)’s volunteer investigators, but must put that aside when she becomes the focus of one of their cases. 

The series is based on real-life accounts of The Network, a victims’ rights group that aids law enforcement in idenitfying John and Jane Does.  It has recently been picked up for five more episodes.

The Forgotten airs Tuesday nights at 10pm on ABC.
The new season of 24 premieres January 2010 on FOX.
