An American restaurant has set a new record after its chefs cooked up the world’s largest meatball.
Owners of Nonni’s Italian Eatery in New Hampshire created the mega-meatball, which weighed in at 222.5 pounds.
Matthew Mitnitsky, owner of Nonni’s, said the giant ball of mince was authenticated as the largest on the planet after being weighed by officials from the state weights and measures department.
“A meatball is a ball of ground rolled meat where the meat is rolled into a ball along with other ingredients, such as bread or breadcrumbs, minced onion, various spices, and possibly eggs, rolled together by hand, and cooked by frying, baking, steaming, or braising in sauce.”

Meatballs conjure up images of my impoverished childhood; my mom used to make meatballs that contained precious little meat and plenty of breadcrumbs. I have not eaten any meatballs since I was a kid.
I’d rather take my chances with Amy Winehouse chasing me with a butcher knife, than be anywhere near that monstrous meatball. A monster meatball would be an excellent premise for a horror movie. The trailer could depict a scene of the killer meatball rolling down a hill and flattening fleeing villagers like a bulldozer.
I will avoid Nonni’s Italian eatery like the plague.
