“On Friday morning, minimum-security Hillsborough County Jail inmates and employees sold hot sauce and plants outside the Falkenburg Road Jail. Inmates grow the plants there as part of a vocational program aimed at giving them real-world skills.
The hot sauce is made of jail-grown peppers. Flavors include Original, Smoke and No Escape — the hottest of the bunch. Each bottle is $7.”

The Jailhouse Fire Hot Sauce is expensive, but proceeds go to support the jail’s agricultural program. I urge people in the Tampa area to drop by the jail for some hot sauce. Unfortunately, the hot sauce isn’t available online.
I love hot sauce, I sprinkle it on everything from eggs to french fries. Hot sauce is the condiment with a kick for those who like to spice things up in their lives. I’m not a mayo kind of guy, I like to live large.
The prisoners at Hillsborough County Jail are learning skills they can use once they are out in the real world. Learning how to make hot sauce and growing plants is a much more marketable and useful skill than making license plates.
