Is Woman’s Tofu License Plate Profane?: ILVTOFU

“One Colorado woman’s love for tofu has been judged X-rated by state officials. Kelly Coffman-Lee wanted to tell the world about her fondness for bean curd by picking certain letters for her SUV’s license plate. Her suggestion for the plate: ‘ILVTOFU.’ But the Division of Motor Vehicles blocked her plan because they thought the combination of letters could be interpreted as profane.”

Tofu doesn’t` have a discernable flavor or smell, it`s always marinated in a sauce to make it more palatable. You could marinate a sponge in a delicious sauce and the result would be the same.

Tofu is a dish best enjoyed by vegetarians, vegans and masochists, never under any circumstances serve it to a person you wish to impress.

I would certainly question the wisdom of anyone proclaiming his love for tofu. If a blind date shows up with an “ILoveTofu” license plate, unless she’s the most beautiful woman in the world there wouldn’t be a second date.

The DMV should have rejected Kelly’s license plate even if the combinations of letters she chose couldn’t be interpreted in a profane way.  Actually it’s debatable as to what is more profane, to advertise your love for tofu or to proclaim that you want to get intimate with someone.
