Lady Arrested For Begging For Cigarettes

“A Decatur woman was arrested this week in Van Buren County after police say they received several complaints about her begging people for cigarette money around town. 

Deputies caught up with the woman at her home in Decatur Township on Friday, and warned her to stop bothering her neighbors. However, as officers were starting to leave, she stopped one of them to — you guessed it — beg for cigarette money.”

The woman was arrested for disorderly conduct — it seems that any behavior that cops find irritating is classified as “disorderly conduct.”

The lady (who isn’t named in the article), doesn’t need to spend time in jail. She needs to see a physician about her addiction to cigarettes.

When the cigarette addict was tossed in jail, she probably asked for a cigarette instead of a phone call.

The case has been sent to the prosecutor for review. The prosecutor should dismiss the case against the woman, and either give her a nicotine patch or supply her with a pallet of cigarettes so she won’t bother anyone else.
