“Continental Airlines is apologizing for sending a 10-year-old Massachusetts girl flying alone to New Jersey instead of Ohio.”
The Associated Press
An airport is such a busy and perplexing place that I’ve had nightmares about taking the wrong flight and ending up in Siberia.
Little Miriam Kamen’s fate was worse than my nightmare, she was dispatched to New Jersey. Siberia may conjure up images of frigid landscapes, but New Jersey brings up images of barbed wire fences, streets littered with trash and syringes, and mafiosi hanging out in private clubs.
Continental Airlines claims the error was caused by staff miscommunication, and they have apologized to the young girl. But an apology will not suffice, the innocent young child has endured unspeakable emotional trauma, and the airline should pay for her psychiatric care.
The airline should also let Miriam travel for free for the rest of her life. Miriam needs to travel all over the world so she can see that there are many places like Calcutta, North Korea and Iraq that aren’t as horrible as New Jersey.
