The Enterprise went warp speed at the box office, as Star Trek took the top spot this weekend with $72.5 million.  A prequel from J.J. Abrams, the film follows the early years of young James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and the rest of the original crew.

Last weekend’s champ, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, drop to number two but still claws in at $27 million, while the Christmas Carol romance Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is in third with $10.45 million.
