The Allen Family

We cannot let California continue being a failing state. California’s taxes, ridiculous and paralyzing regulations, insane cost of living and the mismanagement of the state has hit the lowest of lowest, making California a very unattractive to live state. Good people are leaving the state in droves, leaving the ‘sanctuary’ state in the hands of […]

Joni Mitchell`s “Blue”-“More about the war and the bloody changes.”

The Blue album, there`s hardly a dishonest note in the vocals. At that period of my life, I had no personal defenses. I felt like a cellophane wrapper on a pack of cigarettes. I felt like I had absolutely no secrets from the world and I couldn`t pretend in my life to be strong. Or to be happy. But the advantage of it in the music was that there were no defenses there either.” Joni Mitchell

After the movie The Kids Are All Right managed to integrate Joni Mitchell`s 1971 classic, Blue, into the plot, I knew I would have to arrange for ownership of the album. I  never had the record before, but the songs are familiar to me. Blue`s claim to fame is its honesty, its raw nerve. Listen to California, it`s like a snapshot of what was going on in our country at the time.

Just at the moment, Little Green is my favorite song on Blue. A preferred couplet of poetry is: “There`ll be icicles and birthday clothes, And sometimes there`ll be sorrow.” Don`t know exactly what Joni is referring to here, but it seems to have meaning in a tactile way. Also, she`s from Canada and it gets mighty cold up there.

Just noticed, there`s lots of nautical imagery on Blue too. The Mermaid Café, let me sail away, here`s a shell for you and a captain of a ship in This Flight Tonight. An English student could write a term paper on nautical imagery on Joni Mitchell`s Blue. Let`s see…this album is a treasure chest full of booty! *(source-Wikipedia and lyric sheet)

Aren’t 49 States Plenty? Why Pay for CA?

Is CA a Third World Country now and do the rest of us have to pay for it? Why wait for the big earthquake when the state is destroyed. Wouldn’t we be better off with 49 states NOW?

We all know that SOME Californians are among the greediest most arrogant people on the planet.

Primitive tribesmen won’t let their picture be taken because they think the camera steals their soul.

Don’t Paris, Britney, and most issues of People prove this?

Yesterday 60% of California voters rejected paying their bills but they still want the government services they get now.

Are 60% of CA residents now celebrities entitled to everything they want for free? Have they ALL caught the disease?

Will the rest of US have to pay for their lifestyle while they laugh at us hicks?

What do you think? Are you willing to pay CA teachers, police, firemen, and hospital staff for some of the richest people on Earth?
