Orangutan picks Texas to beat Alabama tonight
An orangutan picked up and devoured a treat filled papier-mâché effigy of Bevo at the Los Angeles zoo yesterday. This was a tell-tale sign that Texas will beat (yes, defeat) # 1 Alabama tonight for college football`s BCS National Championship. As a bonus, college football fans get a dollar off admission at the L.A. zoo (through Sunday) if they wear their favorite team paraphernalia. Whoop-di-doo!
The Eyes of Texas is the alma mater for the University of Texas. John Sinclair claims authorship of the song in 1903. The idea is that the people of Texas
expect great things of their students once they graduate and go out into the ‘Real World’ (not turn into lazy hippies). Moreover, it`s claimed that the song has its origins in The U.S. Civil War where the courage of Hood`s Brigade impressed General Lee at the Battle of the Wilderness.
The song was sung to John Kennedy by school children also at a Fort Worth breakfast on November 22nd. This was an unfortunate performance of the Tejas classic. Anyway, the Eyes of Texas will be on the Rose Bowl tonight as a sea of burnt orange floods the TV screens of millions of lathered Americans. That orangutan, Bruno, is one smart cookie. HOOK UM HORNS!
