“A former school board trustee from Southern California has been sentenced to two years of informal probation for stealing a bottle of ketchup from a college dining area.

Wall Street types routinely get away with stealing millions, but this poor guy gets two years probation forĀ pilfering a bottle of ketchup from a college dining area.
I don’t condone taking what’s not yours, but this case should have never gone to trial. An arrangement could have been worked out between the college and Rocco, sparing him from embarrassment and the public from the expense of a jury trial.
A smart lawyer would have argued that the ketchup is their for the use of customers, and that Rocco loves ketchup so much that he needed the whole bottle.
I sometimes grab a handful of packets of ketchup when I eat at a fast food joint, I hope I’m not arrested for theft.
