Vampire Weekend Makes Mud Into Mirth (Lemonade)!

vampire-weekendAfrican-tinged collegiate pop? Yes, that`s what you get with Vampire Weekend. I caught a few of their songs, such as “The Kids Don`t Stand A Chance,” at the Austin City Limits Music Festival last September. My current favorite is “A-Punk” with the jangle of Congolese guitar and a sea chantey organ loop. Vampire Weekend made a splash, literally, at the muddy All Points West Music and Arts Festival in Jersey City. The line from “A-Punk,” “Look outside at the raincoats coming, say oh,” was a timely reference at this rain-soaked event.

Good notices were pouring in for Vampire Weekend at this festival. Kenneth Partridge from USA Today said: “Even from a few hundred yards away, where many fans huddled beneath vendor tents to avoid being struck by lightning, Vampire Weekend sounded fantastic, turning in 45 minutes of bright melodies and springy guitars.” Things are going splendidly for this band and a new album should be out this September.

Vampire Weekend will play this coming weekend at Lolapalooza, Grant Park-Chicago, from 4:30-5:30 PM, that`s Sunday, August 9th on the Chicago 2016 stage.
