“What Came First The Chicken Or The Dickhead?”-Arctic Monkeys` ‘Humbug’ Rocks!

I have been hearing some bodacious brags on the Arctic Monkeys, so I picked up Humbug, their 3rd album, the other day. Still acclimating myself, but I`m starting to dig it. Pretty Visitors is wafting from my notebook stereo, heavy Black Sabbath guitars against the serpent tongue words of Alex Turner. “All the pretty visitors came and waved their arms and cast the shadow of a snake pit on the wall.” Spookier than the organ in The Ghost And Mr. Chicken! My Propeller, sparkling guitars against a modus operandi of sexual activation: “My propeller won`t spin and I can`t get it started on my own.”
Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age co-produced Humbug in the Mojave Desert. “There`s more bottom-end crunch with a lot of haunted house organ and Bond-flick guitar twang.” (Rob Sheffield-Rolling Stone) I`m noticing that quality on Secret Door just now. A tip for you, pull out this song for your upcoming Halloween party! Potion Approaching has lady phantoms, an ego mechanic gives him vitamins. He (Alex Turner I presume?) is steeped in dreams about an ‘Anabelle’ lady of the sea? “In the jostling crowd you`re not allowed to tell the truth, and the photo booth`s a liar!” (Fire And The Thud) So those little black & white photo booths of my youth were chambers of deception? Uh-oo, my dreams are shattered!
